Windows Game Server (WGS) is a free, open-source game server manager for Windows — actively maintained, with a modern interface and features that go well beyond what WindowsGSM offered.
Why people switch
The original WindowsGSM author has not released an update in over two years. The project continues through community-maintained forks and plugins, but core issues go unaddressed and plugin quality varies. WGS is actively developed by its author, with regular releases and a growing built-in game list that doesn't depend on third-party plugin maintainers.
WindowsGSM relies on community-maintained plugin repositories for each game. WGS ships with 143+ games built in — no downloading, no plugin management, no broken community repos. New games are added in regular updates.
WGS includes features that WindowsGSM never had: a Discord bot, a REST API with a web dashboard, crash prediction, per-server RAM caps, wake-on-demand, player statistics, group ban-list sync, and more. Everything is configurable from a single window — no external tools needed.

Migration
WGS does not import WindowsGSM's server list, but migration is straightforward:
WindowsGameServer.exeThe full installation guide is available on the Installation page.
WGS includes 143+ games out of the box. If your game isn't on the list, the built-in Plugin Creator lets you add any dedicated server executable without writing code — just fill in the game name, Steam AppID, executable path, and ports, and WGS handles the rest. Plugins can be exported and shared as .cs files.
